KolaDaisi University in Ibadan has marked its 10th anniversary with a reaffirmation of its commitment to academic excellence and national development, while also unveiling a new logo to symbolize its progress. The university’s vice-chancellor, Professor Olajumoke Morenikeji, emphasized during the unveiling ceremony that the institution will prioritize student-centered education, research, and industry engagement as it looks toward the next decade.

A Focus on Students and Innovation

The university’s mission extends beyond academic qualifications, Morenikeji said. “We want every student who passes through KolaDaisi University to leave not only with a certificate, but with competence, character, confidence, and the capacity to make a meaningful difference,” she stated. The institution aims to equip graduates with practical skills and entrepreneurial capacity to thrive in a global economy.

Morenikeji highlighted three key areas for growth: strengthening teaching and learning, deepening research and innovation, and expanding opportunities for entrepreneurship and industry partnerships. “We will invest deliberately in our people, our infrastructure, and our systems,” she said. The anniversary logo, unveiled alongside the 6th convocation ceremony, reflects the university’s journey from 2016 to 2026, encapsulating its dedication to quality education, leadership, and societal impact.

A Decade of Growth and Future Plans

The 10th anniversary and 6th convocation ceremony brought together students, faculty, alumni, and stakeholders to celebrate the university’s achievements. Morenikeji acknowledged that the milestone was not the work of one individual but the collective effort of founders, leadership, staff, students, and the broader community.

The event also featured the participation of former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, who delivered the 6th convocation lecture. His presence showed the university’s ambition to position itself as a globally competitive, research-driven institution. The convocation ceremony itself will recognize graduating students and welcome them into the university’s expanding alumni network.

Looking back, Morenikeji noted that the university was founded with a clear vision: to provide quality education, develop talents, and produce graduates who contribute meaningfully to society. Over the past decade, she said, that vision has taken shape, and the next phase will require “courage, collaboration, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.”
